So today Tuesday the 19th May 2026 we are going before a indiependent committee. Looking at the previous cases that the EFL has had to deal with the majority do look quite straight forward and easy, however the one today is very complex. There are some things that have come to mind in the past which may or may not have any relevence. I do remember a few years ago Stevanege Playing Newcastle. They wound the Newcastle club up no end and really provoked the fans and club. They spoke a good talk but then failed to deliver on the pitch. I sort of have this going through my mind, in that a club might have an image of being wronged and feel like justice is served by them, but when you make complaints in any line whether work or financial it always goes through a indiependent body. For instance I had an issue in the workplace where a manager was having a nervous breakdown due to stress. To get my views heard someone was brought in who understood the way it worked but who was outside of the situation. I think in some respects to Middlesbrough they might be proved right, but really when you follow a plan of action and refer it to a body in this case the EFL then you have to accept that it will be looked at in light of evidence and can go either way.

In a few hours time we will know the outcome and what ever the punishment we will accept I would imagine, but there is part of me that feels maybe Middlesbrough might of been better just accepting that their season was over and sort of resetting for a challenge of getting promoted automatically. This whole episode will create a follow on for their season, I think in both a negative and a positive. Worst case scenario they lose they will feel hard done by, emotionally dissapointed. Like a team relegated almost it will be hard to life that mood. I do think in the match the other day that M'bro expected a win, they thought they would win and put the argument to bed. As a said earlier in a positive way it will fire them up but they will have to emotionally detached. Cool heads, not raging hearts.

For Southampton I feel that all the work we have done is going unbeaten will always be  overshadowed by the Middlesbrough /Spy saga. It will also fire us up against them in the league. I would not be suprised it might get played behind closed doors. I know the site is called SFS we march on, but we will need to move on. For the time being as a Southampton fan and as a club we are doing well to not be provoked in the face of by personalities like James Cordon, Troy Deeney. I will update today with further news.
